May 2011 - Hyundai's Fluidic Verna, Mahindra Verito

  • Hyundai launches all new Fluidic Verna, ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs 6.9 to 10.7 lakhs. Present dull looking Verna Transform will be discontinued.
  • Mahindra-Renault Logan is renamed to "Mahindra Verito".
  • Car sales in India slow down last month.
  • Tata launches smaller Tata Ace Zip and Tata Magic Iris. Magic Iris is a 3 door passenger vehicle on Ace platform, positioned to compete with 3 wheeler autos.
  • Maruti to launch short boot Swift Dzire to reduce length of car below 4m so that it will attract only 10% excise tax instead of current 22%. This strategy is similar to that of Tata Indigo CS.
  • Ferrari opens showroom in Delhi on Thursday, 26th. Mumbai to follow.
